An idea is born

Once upon a time, in the mid-1980s on the picturesque waterways of the Adirondack Mountains, a group of fraternity boys and some female guests gathered on a lake boat to enjoy some summer fun in the sun. As that summer sun beat down, the group wanted some refreshing drinks to quench that thirst.

Now, as we’ve all experienced, pouring beverages from a traditional “flip-top” cooler jug can be a difficult and messy task...especially on boat. So, after repeatedly spilling the drinks while attempting to pour due to the rocky waters, the boys were forced to be resourceful and therefore conceived the semi-brilliant idea of containing their beverages within a pesticide sprayer. Just pump, press & pour! But the bug sprayer wasn’t insulated…and nobody likes a warm cocktail

frat boy moves
to Florida

One of those former New York fraternity boys, Ben Rizzo, moves to Florida and brings the bug sprayer to every beach party and football tailgate.

Pretty soon all his new Florida friends have a bug sprayer. It's still a great idea but the one part problem continues to exist... the lack of insulation.

the promise

In 2000, Ben and his now wife Dorothy, are blessed with their only child, Max. Throughout the entirety of Max’s childhood, Ben continues to bring the bug sprayer to every birthday party, backyard bar-b-que and youth sporting event in which Max is involved…even Halloween Parties…and it continues to be a big hit with not only the moms and dads, but with the kids as well!

At every turn, Ben vows to Max that one day he’ll turn the “bug sprayer” into an actual insulated beverage cooler! Fast forward to 2018 and Max, now an entrepreneurship major at the University of Tampa, finally had heard enough about the “bug sprayer” idea and told his dad... “how about practicing what you preach, get off your ass and finally make that CoolCat idea come to life! Max promised to work side-by-side with his dad and, slowly but surely, the concept became a reality!

Teamwork Makes
The Dreamwork

Over the course of 3 years and many bumps along the road, Ben & Max, along with the help and the support of their friends and family have done just that…brought a 35 year-old idea and made it a reality!
